Catching Up with ‘The Proud Family’ and ‘All That’ Actress Alisa Reyes at L.A. Comic Con
From The Proud Family and All That in the early 2000s to the new reboot The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Alisa Reyes has had an enduring career as some of the most recognizable characters across Nickelodeon and The Disney Channel. At this year’s L.A. Comic Con, we had the opportunity to sit with Alisa and discuss her career and her lasting impact.
There’s something to be said about Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel for millennials. Growing up, they seemed unwavering in their promotion of shows that placed Black characters in the forefront of their programming. And while there was still much these networks could improve upon and missteps along the way, as a kid I always knew that at any point during the day while watching TV, I could see myself represented in some way on screen.

When it comes to my conversation with actress Alisa Reyes at L.A. Comic Con, she expressed just how important that is for her work. Her career started early in her life, as an actor on the hit sketch comedy kids show All That, followed by voicing one of the most recognizable characters in The Proud Family, LaCienega Boulevardez. Along the way, she’s maintained wonderful friendships with her cast-mates and is proud of the fanbase that has supported them throughout the year. The current reboot The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder has been a success, and she looks forward to the release of A Proud Family Wizmas next week.
Take a look below to watch our full conversation about bringing these roles to life and being a champion of representation on screen:
The A Proud Family Wizmas special holiday episode premieres on November 14 on the Disney+.
