Jacob Batalon to Star in SYFY’s ‘Reginald the Vampire’

Our favorite web-slinger guy in the chair is making his way into the world of vampires! Jacob Batalon, a fellow Filipino brother from another mother, has nabbed the lead role in a SYFY Channel original series called Reginald the Vampire.

The series will be run by Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks, Chucky), and is based on the Fat Vampire book series by Johnny B. Truant.

Per NBC/Universal:

Imagine a world populated by beautiful, fit and vain vampires. Reginald Baskin tumbles headlong into it as an unlikely hero who will have to navigate every kind of obstacle — the girl he loves but can’t be with, a bully manager at work and the vampire chieftain who wants him dead. Fortunately, Reginald discovers he has a few unrecognized powers of his own. A new show with a lot of heart and just enough blood, Reginald the Vampire proves the undead life is just as complicated as life itself.

The show sounds like a true underdog story. And as we are The Nerds of Color, it’s our job to root for the underdogs. However, with an actor like Batalon in the lead role, it’s definitely not a difficult task for us! Batalon is charming, and we always love rooting for him, whether just in life or whenever he’s playing Ned.

Plus it’s high time we get some voluptuous Filipino representation among the sea of skinny-ass sparkly white male-model vampires!

Eat it, Edward!

Reginald the Vampire will be debuting sometime in the near future only on SYFY!
