NOC Interview: Jake Gyllenhaal and Antoine Fuqua Discuss ‘The Guilty’

Jake Gyllenhaal stars in The Guilty, which premiered in theaters on September 24. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film is a new thriller that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. Both Gyllenhaal and Fuqua also serve as producers. The Guilty will be released October 1 on Netflix as well.

The film takes place over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch call center. Call operator Joe Baylor (Gyllenhaal) tries to save a caller in grave danger—but he soon discovers that nothing is as it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out.

Gyllenhaal is known for Donnie Darko, Bubble Boy, Brokeback Mountain, Rendition, Zodiac, Love & Other Drugs, Prisoners, Nightcrawler, Southpaw, Demolition, Nocturnal Animals, Stronger, and Spider-Man: Far from Home. He also served as a producer for The Devil All the Time, Breaking News in Yuba County, and Relic as well as an executive producer for Joe Bell. Additionally, the actor starred in Sea Wall / A Life, which played its final Broadway performance in 2019.

Fuqua is known for The Replacement Killers, Training Day, Olympus Has Fallen, Brooklyn’s Finest, The Equalizer, Southpaw, and The Equalizer 2. His most recent work is Infinite, which is currently streaming on Paramount+. Upcoming, his new series Mayor of Kingstown premieres on November 14.
