On October 4, Hasan Minhaj makes his triumphant return to Netflix with his newest special, The King’s Jester. In advance of the special’s global premiere, I had the chance to sit down with Hasan to ask about his process (and troll him about Kumail Nanjiani and the Sacramento Kings).
Filmed at the historic Brooklyn Academy of Music, Hasan shares his thoughts on fertility, family, fatherhood, and freedom of speech. It also dives into some of the harrowing experiences he encountered as a result of antagonizing powerful people on his Peabody Award-winning series, Patriot Act.
I asked Hasan about channeling those experiences into The King’s Jester while also cyberbullying him with pictures of Kumail Nanjiani and the Sacramento Kings’ playoff chances.
Check out the interview below and watch The King’s Jester on Netflix starting October 4.
