Jennifer Lawrence, who is also a producer on the film, and Andrew Barth Feldman star as Maddie and Percy in No Hard Feelings. The new R-rated comedy will be exclusively in theaters on June 23.
Maddie (Lawrence) thinks she’s found the answer to her financial troubles when she discovers an intriguing job listing: wealthy helicopter parents looking for someone to “date” their introverted 19-year-old son, Percy, and bring him out of his shell before he leaves for college. But awkward Percy proves to be more of a challenge than she expected, and time is running out. She has one summer to make him a man or lose it all.

“I think I could have never been prepared for his voice when he sang live,” Lawrence shared, talking about her co-star. “He also arranged that song himself, he composes and he writes his own music and he totally arranged that. Every time we would do a take — I mean, we shot that scene all day, I would tear up every single time, so I just could have never imagined anybody having a voice that beautiful.”
“I was so stunned by how kind and wonderful and generous Jen was from the very beginning, making me as comfortable as I could be. And that day, she knew that I couldn’t have dairy before I sang, like every week at Dear Evan Hansen, I would finish my weekend with a slice of cheesecake. And so, after I did ‘Maneater,’ she handed me a whole cheesecake — after we filmed that day, she handed me a cheesecake,” Feldman told me. “I can’t imagine a better person to have done this with let alone somebody who means so much to me.”

We discussed what they learned about each other while filming, their favorite laugh-out-loud moments, and how they would tease the movie for audiences.
