Shaking it Up at the Premiere of HBO’s ‘The Franchise’

Tecto: Eye of the Storm is coming! The Maximum Studios film based on the superhero with earthquake-based powers is currently in production, and his journey from comics to screen is being brought to life in the new HBO comedy series, The Franchise!

Just to clarify, the above is mostly a joke! HBO’s The Franchise is a hilarious workplace comedy centered on the hard working, long suffering film crew and cast of a fictional cinematic universe franchise superhero film called Tecto: Eye of the Storm. The show follows Daniel Kumar (Himesh Patel), the first A.D. of the film, along with an ensemble including the film’s director, Eric (Daniel Bruhl), his assistant (Jessica Hynes), producer (Aya Cash), 3rd A.D. (Lolly Adefope), and the film’s stars (Billy Magnussen and Richard E. Grant), as they but heads creatively with a tough studio executive (Darren Goldstein) trying to uproot the entire production. If it sounds familiar it’s because creators Armando Iannucci (Veep), Jon Brown (Succession), and Sam Mendes (1917, Road to Perdition, Skyfall) blatantly meant to satirize the real-life situations behind the creation of films for franchises like the MCU. But in a hilarious and dysfunctional way.

We were incredibly lucky to attend the red carpet premiere of the show, and had the opportunity to meet some of the cast to discuss the show and their characters with each of them. Take a look at what they all had to say here:

The Franchise debuts on HBO and Max October 6! Make sure to check it out if you enjoy really sharp and witty comedies! You won’t be disappointed!
