Exclusive First Look at Jameela Jamil in ‘PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie’

Exclusive: The Good Place star Jameela Jamil has entered the PAW Patrol Universe in the upcoming PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie and gave The Nerds of Color an early exclusive look at her character in the world. 

In this exclusive feature, Jamil gives a first look at her character, Heidi Pothesis, a paleontologist from the Paleontology Studies Institute, who runs into the pups when they are caught stranded on an island full of dinosaurs. As an avid dog fan (she owns two named Barold and Winnipeg), she expresses how excited she is to be part of this “iconic franchise.” All her friends’ kids think she’s “finally” cool.

Jamil is no stranger to voice acting, especially when it comes to dinosaurs, having had a recurring role in the Netflix animated series, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, and pets (voicing Wonder Woman in the animated film, DC League of Super-Pets). Now, she adds another franchise to her belt, joining the PAW Patrol universe. 

Directed by Cal Brunker, PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie has the PAW Patrol pups get lost at sea from a mysterious storm and crash-land on an uncharted tropical island filled with dinosaurs. They meet Rex, a pup who has been stranded on the island for years and has become an expert in all things dino-related. When the PAW Patrol’s archrival, Mayor Humdinger, begins recklessly mining in hopes of exploiting the island for its natural resources, he inadvertently causes a huge, dormant volcano to erupt. The PAW Patrol pups are thrown into a series of high-stakes, dino-sized rescues bigger than anything they’ve done before, as they must stop Humdinger before everything on the island goes extinct.

The film has an all-star cast with Carter Young, McKenna Grace, Terry Crews, Meredith MacNeill, Ron Pardo, Jennifer Hudson, Hayden Chemberlen, Fortune Feimster, Jameela Jamil, Rain Janjua, Bill Nye, Paris Hilton, Lucien Duncan-Reid, William Desrosiers, Nylan Parthipan, and Snoop Dogg, and introduces Henry Bolan. 

PAW Patrol debuted on August 12, 2013, on Nickelodeon, and celebrates its 13th anniversary with this film. The series is one of the most popular and successful preschool entertainment franchises, broadcasting in more than 160 countries/regions (and in multiple languages). Created by Keith Chapman, the series is currently on its 14th season, with several specials and a spin-off series, Rubble & Crew. There have been two other PAW Patrol movies, including 2021’s PAW Patrol: The Movie and 2023’s PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, which together have grossed over $350 million worldwide.

Paramount Animation and Spin Master Entertainment’s PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie opens in theaters everywhere on August 14.
