Marvel, Lorcana, and ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Panels Bewitch D23

This weekend’s full D23 panel lineup is nothing short of spectacular. With almost all of the Disney-owned properties under one roof for the convention, there are dozens of panels, signings, and exhibits to explore. These particular panels dropped major updates, exclusive reveals, and surprise appearances.

Marvel Fanfare

Our first panel on Saturday was Marvel Fanfare. We were able to take a trip down memory lane, revisiting photos of Marvel comics executives C.B. Cebulski, Nick Lowe, and Joe Kelly. The majority of the panel was spent with their discussion on how they first fell into their love of comics, and what it was like being hired to join Marvel Comics at different stages in their careers. They highlighted photos from their early days, including several featuring Stan Lee. More of their recent photos highlighted actors from current MCU projects, such as Benedict Cumberbatch.

Their biggest reveal came at the end of the panel while discussing The Amazing Spider-Man comics. Not only did they announce the upcoming Issue #1000, but they also gave us an inside preview about the plot. In this particular issue, readers will learn that Aunt May and Uncle Ben had a secret son. This child grew up in a very wealthy family, much to Peter’s envy. After Peter learns of this news and this secret son’s current high-powered position, he grapples with his shock and emotional turmoil knowing how differently all of their lives could’ve been. After showcasing some of the illustrations for this upcoming issue, we were all gifted a D23-exclusive Marvel comic book at the end of the panel.

Lorcana

From brand new glimmers to major gameplay updates, the “The Quests Ahead for Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game” panel was a massive hit! As a casual player, I was pleasantly surprised at how electric and lively the panel and audience were. Hosted by Krystina Arielle, the panelists included parent company Ravensburger game and brand executives Elaine Chase, Jenna Giuffrida, and Naomi Kim.

First up was the announcement of the 2026-2027 Season of Villainy set theme featuring Hercules’ Hades, followed by the debut of the upcoming Hyperia City card set, which will be available for prerelease on October 16. With stunning glimmers and iconic cards, some of the characters include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Donald Duck. Debuting in 2027 Q2 will be the brand new Cosmic Quest set featuring Ariel. There will also be a Beauty and the Beast Edition Curator’s Collection. As the reveals concluded, the panelists announced the upcoming Figment card, the expansion of Lorcana and Disney Cruise Line collaborations, and the development of a Lorcana mobile app and computer-based game. Attendees also received a booster set and an enamel pin.

65 Years of Spider-Man

This fun Spider-Man panel hosted by Brandon Davis took a look at some of the bigger entertainment moments we’ve enjoyed over the last 65 years. Showrunner Jeff Trammell announced that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 will release in January 2027. The announcement was followed by a quick look at a scene from the show depicting the arrival of Doctor Octopus.

We were then treated to a video package sent in by Tom Holland, who is currently taking a break from filming. In the video, he expressed his gratitude for all of the support with the success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Immediately following the video, Kevin Feige and Jacob Batalon surprised everyone by coming onstage. They both spoke about the fun they’ve had over the past decade filming the world of Spider-Man for the MCU. To conclude the panel, all attendees were gifted a lithograph depicting various Spider-Man illustrations.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3

Executive producers Dan Shotz and Jon Steinberg alongside the main Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast joined today’s panel, moderated by Matt “Supes” Ramos. In addition to screening the trailer for Season 3, the highlight of the panel was the costume reveal of upcoming characters Artemis (Dafne Keen) and Zoë Nightshade (Saara Chaudry). The cast enthusiastically spoke about the joy they’ve had filming this upcoming season, while being cautious to avoid spoiling plot points. Newcomers Levi Chrisopulos (“Nico”) and Olive Abercrombie (“Bianca”) spoke about portraying siblings in the series, and what it was like trying to improvise on set.

The cast then played several rounds of trivia and Q&A style games, before ending the panel with one-word descriptions of what their favorite upcoming episodes are. Today’s returning cast members included Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, and Tamara Smart. Season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will debut on Disney+ on November 20.
