Dev Patel Slays in ‘The Green Knight’ Trailer

This summer, English majors of the world will be sure to journey to cinemas to see A24’s first foray into medieval fantasy with The Green Knight, David Lowery’s adaptation of the classic Arthurian poem. Check out the first teaser trailer!

The film stars NOC favorite Dev Patel as Sir Gawain, the knight who challenges and is challenged by the titular Green Knight, as well as Joel Edgerton and Alicia Vikander (presumably as Lord and Lady Bertilak who provide shelter — and more — to our hero on his journey), Lowery’s film looks to be an epic and honestly creepy take on the staple of any British Literature class. To be fair, the original is plenty creepy itself since it’s full of bloody beheadings and immortal mythical creatures.

Also, let’s go ahead and mark May 2020 as Dev Patel month since he hits screens as David Copperfield in the Dickens adaptation three weeks before Green Knight. I’ll let Preeti take it from here:

The Green Knight swings its axe in theaters on May 29.

  • I’ve seen both the previous movie adaptations of the poem, so I imagine I’ll be there for this one.
