David Iacono and Elsie Fisher on Cam and Skye’s Relationship in ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’

David Iacono and Elsie Fisher portray Cam Cameron and Skye in The Summer I Turned Pretty, which is based on the book series by Jenny Han. New episodes of season 2 premiere weekly, Fridays on Prime Video.

Belly used to count down the days until she could return to Cousins Beach, but with Conrad and Jeremiah fighting over her heart and the return of Susannah’s cancer, she’s not sure summer will ever be the same. When an unexpected visitor threatens the future of Susannah’s beloved house, Belly has to rally the gang to come together—and to decide once and for all where her heart lies.

“It all felt very organic though and I think that’s also daunting too, for me at least, walking completely, you know, as the new person into a show and then knowing someone like, pre-established is gonna be my love interest,” Fisher shared. “But it was really natural and it’s funny, it’s like, a little bromance turn romance. It’s adorable.”

“It is very, very cute and I think they’re kind of like the sleeper couple, you know what I mean? They kind of creep up on you by the time that they’re kissing in the show, you’re kind of like, ‘Wait, I didn’t even realize I wanted this to happen so bad and it’s happening now,’” Iacono expressed. “I think people will be happy.”

I had the opportunity to speak with the actors about building the relationship between their characters, why filming on the golf course stands out to them, and which song they would choose as their ship’s anthem!
