You may recall this past July that I had the esteemed pleasure of interviewing the full cast of Alien: Romulus at San Diego Comic Con. Hands down, one of the greatest highlights of my year. Now of course we hadn’t seen the film at that point. But now that it has become one of the biggest and most successful blockbusters of the year (critically and commercially), I find myself honored once more to this time sit down one-on-one with the film’s breakout star, (the man playing my absolute favorite character from the film, Andy) the incredible David Jonsson!

And now we can take Andy and the rest of the gang home, with the digital release of Alien: Romulus. In fact, last week, our amazing correspondent Michael Lee reviewed it here. I can safely say I absolutely agree with his assessment, as this has become a movie I’ve enjoyed revisiting each subsequent viewing.

Now while everyone in the film was wonderful, I can’t deny my partial bias towards Jonsson’s performance as Andy. Ricocheting between innocent and meekly sweet one moment, and cold, calculating, and sinister the next, Jonsson’s performance was complex, multilayered, and incredibly endearing (yet also scary in moments). Not many actors have the chops to pull that sort of range off, while leaving us loving them wholly by the end of the film. And yet, Jonsson does. By the time the credits rolled, I left the theater completely loving Andy.

So with the film officially hitting home media now, and me having finally seen it a few times overall, I found myself reunited once more with Johnsson, and blessed to have another amazing conversation about the film and his terrific performance.
