Disney+’s ‘The Acolyte’ Trailer and Poster is Full of Color

Happy May the Fourth! In honor of the Star Wars holiday, Disney+ debuted the trailer for the upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte, which will premiere with two episodes on June 4.

Created by Leslye Headland, The Acolyte stars Lee Jung-jae as a respected Jedi Master who investigates the shocking murders of Jedis. He finds himself face-to-face with a former student (Amandla Stenberg), who is part of a group that believes the Jedi are becoming too powerful. The timeline for the series takes place during the High Republic era, 500+ years before The Phantom Menace.

The series stars many people of color, especially those in leading roles, including Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Charlie Barnett. This is something that has been lacking in the Star Wars cinematic universe. It’s really exciting to see their journey in this world.

The series also includes Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss. Headland serves as executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are the co-executive producers. Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim and Rob Bredow are the producers. Headland directs the premiere episodes (101 & 102), with directors Kogonada, Alex Garcia Lopez, and Hanelle Culpepper.
