Margot Robbie Expected to Star in Rob Liefeld’s ‘Avengelyne’ for Olivia Wilde

Huge breaking news in Hollywood today folks! Warner Bros. is looking to move forward with an adaptation of Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld’s comic book series Avengelyne. But that’s not all, they’re teaming up with Margot Robbie’s Lucky Chap Productions to potentially produce the film with Robbie herself to star as the titular character for director Olivia Wilde!

Originally reported by Deadline, the news that Robbie would potentially be starring under Wilde elevates this to an incredibly promising prospective tentpole for WB. Furthermore, the studio and Robbie’s production company are looking to snag Oscar-nominated Poor Things writer, Tony McNamara to write the project. Which would mean you have terrific creatives with a terrific star leading a very promising non-DC or Marvel comic book franchise in the making.

Avengelyne has existed as a title since 1995 under the publisher Maximum Press before eventually moving to Image Comics in the 2010s. It centers on an angel that was cast down from Heaven, and banished to Earth with only her super strength, and angelic blood left to protect her against the forces of evil. She then decides to take it upon herself to rid Earth of the forces of demonic and satanic evils, to prevent an oncoming Armageddon.

So in a way it’s Warrior Nun and Buffy meets Paradise Lost.

No word yet when the adaptation may be released, and negotiations are still in progress, but with Robbie, Wilde, and McNamara’s involvement, expect this one to be fast-tracked!
